Djokovic unbeaten entering clay season


KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. — Rising from his chair at end of the final changeover, Novak Djokovic skipped to the baseline, showing he had enough life left in his legs to finish off relentless Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic did just that, beating Nadal in a grueling final for the second time in three weeks to stay undefeated this year.

Tadić calls for national consensus on EU

He added that it would be a “tragic failure” if the country failed to get the status of a candidate for EU membership by the end of the year.

He told the Večernje Novosti daily that the candidate status was a turning point followed by an even more important one – the start of the accession negotiations. Serbia’s path to the EU will be irreversible after that, he noted.

“Once we accomplish those two goals, investments in the country will go up a lot. We will simply not be the same country anymore,” he stated, adding that countries are treated differently by investors if they are in the middle of the EU accession negotiations.

Berlusconi “runs away” from Ruby

Berlusconis’ top associate Gianni Letta confirmed on Monday that the prime minister would not show up in the courtroom on Wednesday.

It has already been decided that he will definitely not be attending, Letta told Reuters, pointing out that Wednesday’s hearing will only deal with procedural issues.

Berlusconi also did not attend hearing today which is a part of another process against him, concerning allegations of fraud, embezzlement and corruption in dealing with television rights of his Mediaset broadcasting company.

Serbian, Armenian presidents meet in Belgrade

Sargsyan was welcomed by Tadć in front of the Palace of Serbia with highest state honors, after which they began a meeting behind closed doors.

In their statements after the meeting, Sargsyan and Tadić said that the two peoples have a centuries-long tradition of cooperation, adding that the political cooperation between the two countries should be crowned with a stronger economic and political cooperation.
